The quote for the week:  If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?  Abraham Lincoln

The days are going by so fast that Saturday is almost upon us again.  That’s good.  John LeMaster will be our guest this week here at The Opry, and it’s always a pleasure having John with us.

This week’s trivia question:  This country artist began in the 50’s and got his big break by winning first on Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts.  He was a regular on Ozark Jubilee tv program out of Springfield, Mo.  His 1957 recording was a big hit on both the country and pop charts, making him among the first of the country artists having an appeal in the pop market.  Who is he?

Last week’s answer:  Spade Cooley

I hope to see you all at The Woodbine Opry this Saturday night.

Opry On!

The quote for the week:  All generalizations are false, including this one.
Mark Twain

As I have said many times before, it is good to see so many enjoying themselves on Saturday nights here at The Woodbine Opry.  I figure if anyone says that music is not good for the soul, then they just haven’t been to The Woodbine Opry.  We’re going to have another good one this Saturday night, so come on out and join us.  You can’t beat the price.

This week’s trivia question:  This man appeared in 38 western movies, had six back-to-back top 10 singles, and was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his wife.  Who was he?

The answer to last week’s question:  Wynn Stewart

I hope to see you at The Woodbine Opry this Saturday night.

The quote for the week:  Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

As usual, we’re looking to have another good time this Saturday here at The Woodbine Opry.  Nelly Aba will be our guest singer this week.  I know that all of the guys in the band are ready for another night of old country music.

This week’s trivia question:  This country artist helped in starting the Bakersfield sound.  As a nightclub owner in Vegas, he hired a young Merle Haggard as bass player for his band.  He had many songs listed on the country charts, including one that reached number 1.  Who is he?

Last week’s answer:  Skeeter Davis

I hope to see you all at The Woodbine Opry this Saturday night.

The quote for the week:  The truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it.
Norman Schwarzkopf

Well here we are, coming up on another Saturday night here at The Woodbine Opry.  We have had very good crowds these past few weeks and it’s good seeing all of you enjoying the time spent here at The Opry.  The band appreciates all of you and we have a good time as well.  That’s what it is all about; getting out and having fun.

This week’s trivia question:  This artist had a number 1 song as a duet act when a traffic accident killed her partner and critically injured herself.  She later began a solo career and had much success in both the country and pop charts.  She is the first country female singer to be nominated for a Grammy.  Who is she?

The answer to last week’s question:  Kenny Rogers

I hope to see you all at The Woodbine Opry this Saturday night.
