The quote for the week:  Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.

Well, here it is Thursday already and time just seems to fly by.  Saturday will soon be here and time for another evening at The Woodbine Opry.  We are continuing having good crowds and it’s great seeing everyone enjoying themselves and having a good time.  I hope that you can be with us this week.

This week’s trivia question:  Remember the 1960 pop hit, “Forever” by The Little Dippers, aka The Anita Kerr Singers?  One of these members returned to country music in 1962 and had a top 20 hit, sang the title song in a Paul Newman movie, and was named the Best Duet with Willie Nelson by Cash Box magazine in 1977.  Who is he?

Last week’s answer:  Wynn Stewart

The quote for the week:  In America we can say what we think, and even if we can’t think, we can say it anyhow.

Another Saturday night will soon be upon us and we are getting to ready to have another good night here at The Woodbine Opry.  The crowds have been outstanding with the “regulars” and our visitors.  Last week we had with us 30 first-time visitors that I’m aware of as some choose not to be acknowledged, and that’s okay.  Many of these visitors came early looking for a good seat and found many up front covered with towels.  We removed these in order for our guests to find seating.  To you regulars who come early to save seats for those who may come later, help us out by respecting the policy of no seat saving.   Sometimes this is not an issue but when the need arises the “no seat saving policy” will be enforced.  We appreciate all of you and we want everyone to enjoy the evening and have a good time.
This week’s trivia question:  This singer-songwriter was key in establishing the west coast country sound, better known as the Bakersfield sound.  He once hired Merle Haggard as his bass player and wrote Haggard’s first hit, “Sing Me A Sad Song”.  He also had a number 1 hit.  Who is he?
Last week’s answer:  Dolly Parton
I hope to see you all out this Saturday night and have a good time with your opry friends.

The quote for the week:  Know what’s weird? Day by day, nothing seems to change. But pretty soon, everything’s different.

This is Valentine’s week, so come on out Saturday night with your Valentine.  Another fine crowd is expected to be present, and it’s going to be a fun evening.

Just as the “quote for the week” says, here at The Woodbine Opry we strive to put on the best possible program each week bringing to you old country tunes.  We had a very good program last week, and this week will be another good one.  I think all of us in the band feel the same way:  we just can’t wait for the next Saturday night to get here.

This week’s trivia question:  This country music star won eleven Grammy awards in 1965-66, and in 1985 he received a Tony award for his score in a Broadway musical.  Who is he?
